Nurse Practitioners, great pay and expenses paid if you can travel!

20 Nurse Practitioners are needed for travel assignments in Canada’s north.

Consider being a part of the well-respected Bayshore care team providing primary healthcare services throughout the Regional Health Centers and Communities of Nunavut.

Superior remuneration is available for Nurse Practitioners, and the travel costs, the accommodation costs and your daily living costs are all covered, along with licensing, cellphone bills, taxis and more.

The assignments are at least 4 to 6 weeks but can be longer if you wish.

The total pay is $110.40 per hour after the training period, per the first 3 points below:

  • The base pay is $85.00 per hour after the first 12 weeks of remote northern assignments, and after having completed the Agency Nurse Orientation & Training Program (ANOTP); prior to that the base pay is $70 per hour while in the orientation and training phase.
  • On the wage amounts noted above a 4% vacation allocation will also be added to each pay.
  • For your food and personal expenses, you will also receive $22.00 per hour of work, which is free of income tax because you are travelling for work, and because of this the $110.40 per hour has about the same take-home pay of a wage at $120 per hour.
  • A Bayshore travel coordinator will be assigned to you, who will build your travel itinerary and remain your primary logistical coordinator and e-mail you the e-tickets for your airfare.

• Your accommodations will be provided free of charge, which will include a private bedroom but there may be 1 or 2 other Nurse Practitioners sharing your suite or home.
• For each 3 weeks of completed work we will reimburse 25% of your nursing license in Nunavut with their regulator known as RNANT/NU, so after 12 weeks this cost is 100% reimbursed to you.
• After 450 regular hours of work you are invited to expense up to $1,000 for job related expenses such as mobile phones, education or other training certificates etc.
• After another 900 hours of work similar expenses will be reimbursed to an additional $2,000.
• Our bronze, silver or gold level medical plan is also available for your single or family coverage, but would be cancelled if you elect to leave the program.
• For taxis and ferries you can expense up to $200 for each trip to the north.Duties:

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Nunavut will provide autonomous care through assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and follow up care to the residents in the community following Nurse Practitioner scope of practice and the regulations, policies, standards in accordance with the Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU).

• The NP provides a comprehensive community health service in conjunction with the health care team and works within the context of primary health care to improve the capacity of clients and communities to adapt to, respond or control, life’s challenges and changes.Notes:

  • You can wear business casual every day, or bring your own scrubs as you may prefer.

• You can bring your own stethoscope and your preferred medical equipment if you desire, but this is not mandatory.
• In most cases, you can walk to work in a few minutes.
• Most shifts are 8:30am to 5:00pm on 5 of the 7 days each week; but some on-call and some overtime may be required.
• There are about two dozen clinics and hospitals seeking Nurse Practitioners including Iqaluit, Hall Beach and Resolute Bay in the Baffin region; Whale Cove and Rankin Inlet in the Kivalliq region; and Kugluktuk and Cambridge Bay in the Kitikmeot region.
• We have been providing this service since 1997, and our nurses they tell us the area is rich in history, culture, and beauty and the Inuit are kind and appreciative of the care we provide. Our nurses have been shown many traditional skills and are welcomed to participate in community events like traditional dance, school events, and community feasts. Side note: They don’t have towns and cities, they have Communities.

Job Qualification

Qualifications:

  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are obtained through the completion of a Graduate Level Advanced Nursing Practice degree, eligibility to registered for license by the RNANT/NU….we can help guide you.

• New NP graduates who have recent RN experience in an acute care setting will also be considered.
• Assets include: Cross cultural experience, BTLS, ACLS, NRP, ALARM, STABLE, Fetal monitoring, pelvic examination, labor and delivery experience with advanced obstetrical training.
