For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager Clinics, the Registered Nurse Clinics (RNC) directly impacts the delivery of specialist services to patients within the Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all services provided to patients within the primary care setting. The RNC is responsible for developing and coordinating the delivery of Specialist Services for clients in the Qikiqtaaluk Region. The RNC is responsible to collaborate with other members of the multi-disciplinary health care team in ensuring that specialist services are delivered effectively, within an appropriate time frame, and with as little disruption to other departments as possible. The RNC is responsible for Case Management of client referrals, and Specialist waitlist management.
The RNC is responsible for providing nursing support for minor procedures and running of Iqaluit and Visiting Specialist Clinics as required, including follow-up of results and communication with Specialists. The RNC provides referral management and nursing support to telemedicine services. The RNC must be cognizant of fiscal constraints and have the ability to work within these constraints. The incumbent’s decisions and recommendations affect the way that services are provided and, also, in the cost of the service provision. As a Registered Nurse position, floating to other departments within the Qikiqtani General Hospital, assessing patient health status and responding to actual/potential health problems may be required.
The above knowledge, skills and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor or Diploma of Nursing from a recognized Canadian University, or equivalent along with three (3) years of recent experience in a broad-based acute care setting. Nursing Registration with Registration Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is required. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support is also required.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required. One (1) year working in a Northern Remote Health Care setting is an asset. One (1) year experience in a health care specialist clinic setting is an asset. Certification in administration, preferably nursing, is also an asset. Experience working in Telemedicine is an asset.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
