HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Nurse Practitioner will utilize her advanced nursing knowledge and skill to direct and provide optimal care to patients referred to the Women’s Health Care Centre for assessment and treatment for the full range of health care issues. This position will practice at a high level of autonomy and will formulate clinical decisions and development of a patient care plan. The incumbent will be the key liaison with primary care physicians, Obstetricians and Gynecologists and other community partners to ensure seamless care. The Nurse Practitioner cultivates a holistic approach to nursing practice addressing health needs throughout the life cycle through assisting in the development, implementation and Quality Assurance of Centre services and programs.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- RN with Extended Class required
- Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate required
- Current Certificate of (licensure)/registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- BCLS
- Three to five years related clinical and/or management experience preferred
- Post baccalaureate development of added nursing skills relevant to women’s health services
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical assessment, management and counselling in a broad range of female health care issues – contraception, pregnancy, menopause, cervical health, women’s cancers, STDs, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, etc
- Masters degree in nursing an asset

- Must be able to support any woman in her health care choices, especially those related to unplanned pregnancy required

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other team members
- Demonstrated leadership in the advancement of clinical practice and the achievement of program goals
- Demonstrated use of theory and research/evidence based outcomes in practice
- Ability to work independently, be self directed, and achieve activities within timeliness
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent decision-making, problem recognition, and problem solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
