“Lutheran Health Network is taking action to develop, recruit and retain qualified nurses, and has recognized the need to approach nursing care in new and innovative ways in response to nursing shortages in our region and around the country,” Sarah Knisely-King, chief nursing officer at Lutheran Hospital, said.
The Lutheran Health Network in partnership with Jersey College created an onsite nursing program nearly two years ago. The first class of students began their studies on July 26, 2021.
Similarly, Parkview Health has felt the nursing shortage throughout their area-wide system of medical providers and facilities.
“Like health care providers in our region and across the country, Parkview Health is facing an increased need for qualified nurses. In addition to the nationwide demand, we’ve seen increased local demand for care from Parkview providers and hospital locations, furthering our efforts to hire skilled, dedicated nurses,” Erin LaCross, senior vice president of nursing professional development at Parkview Health, said.
