Full Job Description

East Kent University Hospitals Foundation Trust has a vacancy for a full time permanent Adult Safeguarding Practitioner, to join the Safeguarding Adult Team.

Do you have a professional qualification in health or social care and knowledge of both safeguarding adults and the mental capacity act? The role is suitable for nurses, therapists or social workers. Recent experience of acute care would be particularly advantageous

Safeguarding is everyone’s business so in this role you will be working across the whole Trust with all professional disciplines and all grades of staff. The EKHUFT People at Risk Team works to support clinicians to deliver, safe holistic practice, upholding the human rights of vulnerable adults in accordance with the law. It also has a responsibility for reviewing adult safeguarding alerts and identifying key themes and trends in support of the divisional governance processes and ensuring there are sufficient systems in place to ensure we meet operational standards. The team also takes responsibility for overseeing the implementation of the Safeguarding Adults policy, including education and training. The team also provides support and guidance relating to the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2009).

To join us in an exciting and rewarding role you must have a current professional Registration and 3-5yrs post qualification experience working in the field of Adult Care or Adult Safeguarding. The team works through influencing others, so it is essential to be able to communicate effectively with other professionals from multiple agencies.

With a commitment to the protection and safeguarding of adults at risk and the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act and Human Rights Act, you will have an understanding of the interface between the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

The ability to work autonomously, under pressure and to deadlines is key to the success of this role. You will be expected to work on more than one site and occasionally visit external agencies. (A car driver required). You will need IT skills to communicate and deliver teaching.

You will provide education, training and advice to clinicians on complex cases in the ward setting.
