Full Job Description

As a team we are working hard to ensure that we give babies and their families the best possible start in life; keeping their needs firmly at the heart of everything that we do. Whether a baby has been born too soon or develops unexpected health complications, we are proud and committed to support them and their family in this journey. Would you like to help us?

We have been fortunate to secure recurrent funding from Ockenden Funding stream and are currently seeking a skilled advanced neonatal nurse practitioner (ANNP) who is passionate about providing the four pillars of advanced practice and commited to providing exemplary clinical care and championing leadership, education and research to move our service forward. Would you like to be part of our newly developed ANNP team? If so we would love to hear from you. We can offer you a rewarding, flexible and supportive role within our progressive neonatal service.

This role offers a high degree of autonomy enabling the successful applicant to make complex decisions and showcase their practical skills in collaboration with robust assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment. In the future, we are keen to invest in advanced practice and to support progression of ANNP’s onto the middle grade rota. This really is your chance to make a difference and to influence neonatal advanced practice. If this excites you, we would love to hear from you!

Based at the 25 bedded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Ashford Kent (but with rotation to our 12 bedded level 1 SCBU in Margate, Kent) as an ANNP you will take responsibility for babies and families within the maternity and neonatal units, delivering high quality care, that is evidence based.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of ANNPs working on the ST1-ST3 rota. For one week per month, you will contribute to clinical nursing care, leadership, research, education and audit – to ensure that you role remains varied and exciting. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your clinical expertise, competence, confidence within an autonomous and defined scope of practice, in collaboration with a passionate team of neonatal experts.

As an ANNP you will champion exemplary nursing leadership and advanced nursing practice to provide neonatal intensive, high dependency, special and transitional care within national guidelines and professional standards.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.

We care about our patients and our people. We are focused on providing outstanding, safe patient care, and a positive working culture that benefits staff and patients alike. With our emphasis on staff training and development, a staff support scheme that’s second to none, and a healthy package of benefits, it’s easy to put down roots in East Kent Hospitals.

We offer a full package of benefits, including a car lease scheme; on-site childcare; generous annual leave in line with NHS terms and conditions; high street and public transport discounts; a 24/7 staff support service – and the little things that make life easier, like on-site Amazon lockers and fresh fruit and veg stalls.
