Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Thoracic Oncology
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Advanced Nursing Team, providing individualised care to our patients and their families/carers through Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Holistic Needs Assessments and Stratified Follow-Up. The post holder will work with colleagues and the Lead Nurse for Cancer to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and investigations for cancer conditions.
The post holder will be a core member of the Royal Brompton Hospitals Lung Cancer MDT, contributing expert nursing opinion. However, a key aspect of the role is ensuring continuity for patients referred for specialist care, by liaison with referring centres and healthcare professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of patients and will act as “Key Worker”. They will be responsible for proactive management of these patients, providing a link to colleagues while patients are at home and ensuring necessary onward referrals are in place.

Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ in February 2021 and is the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. Further to collaborating with the Royal Marsden Hospital through a Joint Thoracic Service for patients with suspected or confirmed thoracic cancers.
