Nurse Consultant, Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention
This second advanced level nurse consultant position provides statewide leadership, expert consultation, and technical assistance in the area of clinical systems and quality improvement in stroke care for a state-level program, as well as to community-based agencies and other groups across the state. This position will serve as the nurse consultant of a highly complex state-level grant program, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to improve quality of stroke care among Michigan residents. The major functions of this senior level position are: supporting the implementation of a highly complex stroke registry and quality improvement program, providing clinical stroke-care consultation and leadership to quality improvement initiatives focusing on stroke, CVD and also expanding the focus of this work from in-hospital quality of care process measures, to include the impact of COVID-19 on hospital processes, staff, and patient outcomes;
collaborating with statewide professional organizations, hospitals and health care systems across the state; and facilitating a new state-level initiative improving the quality of stroke rehabilitation. This senior-level employee will support grant related activities for participating hospitals across the state. This senior level nurse consultant position will involve working independently in providing expert consultation and technical assistance to hospital and health systems across the State of Michigan for improving the quality of stroke care across the continuum, including in-hospital and transitions of care. This position serves as the state-level expert and resource person for clinical quality improvement and for stroke care, as well as stroke prevention and control in the State of Michigan.
