Renal Vascular Access Nurse

The position is 15 hrs a week flexible over 2 days. You will be expected to work within the team planning access in a timely manner for Renal patients. Covering Preop clinic with the other Band 6 team member which consists of 2 clinics/1 clinic alternate weeks. Seeing patients 2 weeks after the avfistula creation in the Nurse led clinic and organising a follow up scan.

If that patient has a permcath in and has already started dialysis then you will be expected to follow up the patient, reviewing the scan with the Lead consultant, if the scan shows good flows, then the avfistula can be needled. Surveillance of the access will be on going using the Transonic monthly. You will organise Fistulplasties on our three weekly lists. Consenting the patient.

You will need to record all plans on Renal EMED. The position also consists of attending a once weekly MDT meeting with the multi-professional team to discuss intervention outcomes, meeting with Lead consultant for access once a week. Teaching staff and patients about vascular access, needling techniques and best practice guidelines.
