From the second quarter of 2015, when Statistics Canada’s Job Vacancy and Wage Survey started tracking nursing vacancies, to the second quarter of 2019, nurse openings rose a whopping 77%, outpacing the growth of job vacancies overall.   

It has been observed that there is lagging over the nursing profession, as there is a difference between the job vacancy which is high but the job seekers have been declining. Small provinces like Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Atlantic Canada have a greater opening but receive less interest.
